Casey Farm

South Lawn

Looking back across the lawn to the south from the balcony above the porch, Harry framed the open pastures that stretch to the horizon with a clear view of Saunderstown Village and Narragansett Bay on the left. The white blobs were probably rocks and grazing sheep. The clothesline and laundry show how the tenant farmers valued the sunny South exposure for different reasons. Our 2020 view from the ground shows only a hint of blue water among the many trees. The south pastures were rehabilitated into planting fields in the 1990s where most of our organic crops are grown.
