Farm House Additions
The two later additions to the north side of the circa 1750 farm house—a kitchen on the left and dairy processing room on the right—form a windbreak protecting the back door to the kitchen. With only a little less mud, this is still the main way folks who work here get into the farm house. You can see a bench for taking off muddy boots before going inside the house by walking on swept paving stones and a wooden deck. The dark spots on the 1870s image could be the result of dust (still a constant of farm life) settling on the glass plate during the exposure or development process.
