Barnyard Well

Harry took this photo looking west from the barnyard toward the well, which has no doubt been rebuilt, but still remains. No longer utilized as the source of drinking water, children today delight in drawing up the pail and putting their hands under the splashing water. They also like playing yard games like “Feed the Pigs” that was in the barnyard from a pre-school group visit. Outbuildings in the background have been rearranged and a larger horse barn added to the right in the modern view. Notice the bootjack resting on the well in the 1870s view to help the farmers take their muddy boots off before going inside the farm house.
