Bequest of Edward P. Casey

With her husband Silas, Abigail raised a large family while moving between several military posts including New York, Washington state, Oklahoma territories, and Florida. Their son who inherited the farm, Thomas Lincoln Casey, also joined the Army, rising to the rank of brigadier general. Another son became an admiral in the Navy. His mother’s social connections were helpful in the military careers of the Casey men because Abigail was the daughter of a Congressman.
