Spring

Spring is the start of the growing season in the fields, with much field preparation and then planting of seeds and young plants. The farmers market season begins in mid-May with our Spring Seedling Sale of a variety of edible vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs to grow at home. We celebrate the season with an Egg Hunt, featuring our MC, Mr. Chicken. Project CHICK teachers begin bringing eggs to hatch in classrooms and students come to the farm for field trips. There are many young animals to see up close other than chicks, like turkeys, ducks, pigs, and rabbits. For a few short weeks in May, apple blossoms on our dozen heirloom trees steal the show.
